Jacob Avignone is a Los Angeles–based Camera and Steadicam Operator with more than three decades of experience in the entertainment industry. Raised in Milan, Italy, he is fluent in both English and Italian.

At age 16, Jacob tried on a Steadicam for the first time at a camera expo in Milan and immediately knew he had found his calling. He began his career as a video camera operator for TBN Italy, covering live concerts featuring the Miles Davis Orchestra, Shaquille O’Neal, and numerous Italian recording artists. During this period, he also operated camera for high-profile Armani fashion shows in Milan.

At 18, Jacob relocated to the United States and began working as a Camera Assistant alongside some of the industry’s most respected cinematographers. His early credits include second-unit work on Austin Powers in Goldmember and Clockstoppers with Paul Hughen, ASC; A Man Apart with director F. Gary Gray and cinematographer Jack Green, ASC; Elizabethtown with director Cameron Crowe and cinematographer John Toll, ASC; and Bad Santa with cinematographer Jamie Anderson. His television credits from this period include CSI: Vegas with Frank Byers, ASC, and The West Wing with Tom Del Ruth, ASC, and Michael Mayers. He also worked on the cult classic The Room.

After working on the pilot for Sons of Anarchy with cinematographer Paul Niebaum, ASC, and on Race to Witch Mountain with camera operator Greg Smith, Jacob committed himself fully to pursuing his career as a Camera and Steadicam Operator. He steadily built his operating credits across feature films, television, commercials, music videos, and documentaries.

Jacob’s feature film and television operating credits include End of Watch, directed by David Ayer and photographed by Roman Vasyanov; All-Star Weekend, directed by Jamie Foxx and photographed by John T. Connor; Community, as a day player with director Anthony Russo and cinematographer Gary Hatfield; Teen Wolf, as a day player on both the series and feature with director Russell Mulcahy; Shooter; Atypical; and documentary projects for National Geographic. His recent work includes the Emmy-nominated A Black Lady Sketch Show and the upcoming 16 mm horror throwback A Blind Bargain.

Between film and television projects, Jacob frequently works on commercials and music videos. He has collaborated on projects featuring artists including Adele, Carrie Underwood, Ozzy Osbourne, John Mayer, Erykah Badu, Audioslave, Deftones, Stone Temple Pilots, Katy Perry, Korn, John Legend, Post Malone, Pharrell Williams, Miley Cyrus, Def Leppard, Dave Matthews Band, Snoop Dogg, Blink-182, and Will Smith.

His commercial clients include Adidas, Wendy’s, GoDaddy, The Home Depot, Dr Pepper, MetroPCS, and Craftsman. He has also worked with action-sports legends including Robby Gordon, Mike Metzger, Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg, and Rick Thorne.
